Thomas Marnin and Skye Saylor graduated from university, somewhere in the high Rocky Mountains, long ago during the financial meltdown. With no big plans in mind, we both stretched our legs and moved out west to the Emerald City of Seattle. Small-towners though we were, we soon cultivated an understanding of this tech mecca and found ourselves able to brave the heavy rain and high rent.
In 2012, Skye made the very first Donut Cat. She had been designing and making toys for friends for many years, and after absentmindedly doodling a Donut Cat she wanted to see if she could successfully assemble one out of fabric. That very first Donut Cat, created on a whim, was crudely made and not nearly as cute as its modern-day descendants. But it nevertheless found a place within people’s hearts and before we knew it, we were making more of the funny felines for friends and family queueing up with money in hand.

The following year we exhibited at our first craft show and were juried into Pike Place Market as daystall vendors. In November of 2019, after six years of setting up our booth in the crafts area of the market, we opened our flagship brick and mortar store! Since then, the Pastry Pet world has grown to include merch and art based on our original Pastry Pet characters - Donut Cat, Honey Bun, Cinnamon Bun, Maple Bear, Eclair Bear, and more.
In October of 2024 a new chapter of MarninSaylor began. We are no longer crafting toys by hand in our studio … but that wasn't the end for our little business. We’re excited to continue offering original artwork, and a new version of the Pastry Pets too! Stick around and see what new sweetness we bake up!

Thomas Marnin: Co-Founder & Designer
Art was a constant for Thomas throughout his Montana childhood, and he has been entertaining himself with creative pursuits ever since. Spot Thomas at Pike Place Market, maybe even sporting his signature pink bowtie and soda jerk hat.
Skye Saylor: Co-Founder & Designer
As a kid Skye roamed the wilds of western Wyoming and made her own fun with pencil and paper or stick and rock. Today she is the dreamer-upper of Pastry Pets and captain of all things operational and visionary here at MarninSaylor HQ.
Avery Holoubek: Operations Manager
Hailing from South Carolina, Avery spends time bouldering, listening to odd music, and searching for great coffee. A lover of the outdoors and all things creative, find Avery making music at home or on a walk around Seattle!
Bryn Templeton: Shopkeep
Born and raised in Seattle, Bryn is a self-described nerd with a passion for everything cute. They enjoy cosplay, solo travel, and indulging in music from twenty years ago. Catch them in Pike Place Market wearing a colorful sweater!
Kristoffer Fabec: Shopkeep
This ex-Floridian was drawn to Seattle's mountains and forests. He loves cute things, nature, travel, gaming, and 3D modeling. Kristoffer also makes art in celebration of video games. Catch him sipping a tea next time you're at Pike Place.
Daisy: Shop Dog
Daisy enjoys the finer things in life: napping, having people look at her and go "AWWW", and getting fed way too many treats every time she's down at Pike Place. She also loves hiking, hunting bunnies, and eating sand at the beach.
